Job Summary
MDS/Admission RN position at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital (Per Diem). Responsible for responding to and carrying out pre-admission screenings for patients referred to the rehab program and developing a referral development program to promote rehab features and benefits to patients, families, and the community. Time spent on each task varies with activity volume. Requires RN license in PA, BLS, and at least 2 years of related experience (rehab setting a plus). Must be able to review medical records for rehab medical necessity, communicate effectively with diverse audiences, and handle multiple tasks; competency in FIM and pre-admission screening; proficiency with computers/electronic data entry; valid driver’s license. Education path includes graduation from an accredited nursing program; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
- Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license
- Current BLS certification must be completed by end of orientation period
- Minimum of two (2) years experience; rehab experience a plus
- Ability to comprehensively review a medical record for rehab medical necessity
- Strong organizational skills; results oriented; independently goal directed; multi-task capability
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
- Pass FIM competency and pre-admission screening competency
- Experience with computer and other electronic data entry devices
- Experience as intake coordinator preferred
