Job Summary
Develop and implement an athlete-centered coaching philosophy, organizing practices to maximize performance and resources while designing training, conditioning, and nutritional programs. Teach positive values and behaviors through sports, monitoring environmental conditions and modifying participation to prevent injuries. Recognize injuries, provide immediate care, and facilitate social and emotional growth by creating a positive environment that fosters responsibility and leadership. Demonstrate ethical conduct, effective game management, and fiscal record-keeping, while developing goals for athletes and the program. Create a positive relationship with parents, the school, and the community, and implement an emergency action plan. Fulfill all legal responsibilities and risk management procedures associated with coaching.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated management, leadership and human relations skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
- Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the duties and responsibilities listed below
- Must have completed a Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association approved course in the care and prevention of athletic injuries
- Must earn Accredited Interscholastic Coach certification from the National Federation of High Schools
