Job Summary
Develop and implement an athlete-centered coaching philosophy while identifying, modeling, and teaching positive values and behaviors through sports. Organize and plan practices to maximize performance, time on task, and resources, utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to enhance learning. Design and monitor individual training, conditioning, recovery, and nutritional programs, ensuring facility safety and preventing injuries through environmental monitoring and immediate care provision. Facilitate social and emotional growth by creating a positive athletic environment that encourages responsibility and leadership, while demonstrating effective game management and ethical conduct. Establish public relationships with parents, the school, and the community, and maintain fiscal and organizational record-keeping for the program.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated management, leadership and human relations skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
- Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the duties and responsibilities listed below
- Must have completed a Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association approved course in the care and prevention of athletic injuries by the end of the first year of coaching
- Must earn Accredited Interscholastic Coach certification from the National Federation of High Schools by the end of the first year of coaching
