Job Summary
Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to students with disabilities in individual or small groups; tutor students, reinforce instruction, and monitor/report progress. Support the teacher by preparing lessons, administering and scoring tests, maintaining classroom records, operating instructional/AV equipment, and assisting with laboratory activities. Monitor behavior, ensure health and safety, provide emotional support and guidance, and communicate with parents as needed. May lift or transport students and support personal care as required. Maintain attendance and implement district policies; collaborate with instructional teams and participate in staff development and meetings. Requires basic education credentials and college credit, plus experience with children in organized settings.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (or demonstrated progress toward obtaining GED) as required by Kentucky law
- 48 hours of college credit evidenced by college transcript or successful completion of Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment test
- Some experience working with children in an organized setting
