Job Summary
Assist with communications, constituent correspondence, research, special projects, and community engagement efforts while building relationships with city leaders, department directors, elected officials, and community stakeholders. Receive mentorship from Mayor Marsha Judkins and Mayor's Office staff to gain exposure to multiple city departments through structured experiential learning opportunities. Independently seek out work and learning opportunities by interacting with internal and external stakeholders using strong written and verbal communication skills. Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information and demonstrate professionalism as a representative of the mayor's office. This paid, part-time internship offers flexible hours up to 20 per week within the Mayor's Office executive branch, which collaborates with the City Council and residents to address community needs.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age by the start date of the internship
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Be able to work up to 20 hours per week during the internship period
- Any experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the work
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and good judgment in all work environments and outside of work as a representative of the mayor's office
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Interact with internal and external stakeholders and community members using strong written and verbal communication skills

- Interest in local government, public service, community engagement, communications, leadership, or public administration
- Experience with writing, research, customer service, communications, social media, event support, user experience design, business, or community involvement
