Job Summary
Deliver tailored lessons using the Compass learning platform, facilitating student progress through questioning, scaffolding, and stretching within small groups of six. Build meaningful relationships with children aged 4–16 by supporting them through the national curriculum, entrance exams, and GCSE preparation while prioritizing their safety and wellbeing. Act as a coach and mentor to inspire curiosity and develop a lifelong love of learning. This on-site, permanent part-time role is based at the Watford centre, with shifts available Tuesday through Friday and Saturday mornings. Candidates must be 16 or over with UK work eligibility and GCSE grades of 6 or above in Maths and English.
Required Qualifications
- Age 16 or over
- Right to work in the UK
- Grade 6 or above in Maths & English Language at GCSE level or equivalent
- Acceptance of predicted GCSE grades if results received within the next 3 months
- Commitment to building meaningful, long-term relationships
- Confidence leading sessions with small groups (1:6)
- Ability to inspire children to engage in their learning
- Use of positive behaviour management strategies
- Consistently prioritising safety and wellbeing
- Comfort supporting children aged 4–16 across the national curriculum
- Knowledge of 11+ entrance exams
- Knowledge of GCSE content
- Ability to work on-site at the Watford centre
- Permanent, part-time contract availability
- Minimum of 6 hours a week
- Work at least 2 different weekdays
- Availability for 3:30-4pm Tuesday
- Availability for 3:30-4pm Wednesday
- Availability for 3:30-4pm Thursday
- Availability for 3:30-4pm Friday
- Availability for Morning/afternoon Saturday
- Not being a summer-only role
- Support for members throughout the next academic year and beyond
- Satisfactory references
- Enhanced DBS check
- Full employment history with all gaps clearly explained and evidenced
- No omissions, inconsistencies, or misleading information in employment history
- Understanding that the role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
- Willingness to provide relevant disclosures in line with DBS and safer recruitment requirements
