Job Summary

Deliver tailored Maths and English lessons using the Compass platform, facilitating learning through questioning, scaffolding, and stretching for small groups of six. Build meaningful relationships with children aged 4–16 by creating a safe environment where they can take risks and develop a lifelong love of learning. Support members through the national curriculum, 11+ entrance exams, and GCSE preparation while celebrating their academic milestones. Work on-site at the Cheltenham centre in a permanent, part-time capacity of at least 6 hours weekly across two different weekdays.

Required Qualifications

  • Age 16 or over
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Grade 6 or above in Maths & English Language at GCSE level or equivalent
  • Acceptance of predicted GCSE grades if results received within the next 3 months
  • Confidence leading sessions with small groups (1:6)
  • Ability to inspire children to engage in their learning
  • Use of positive behaviour management strategies
  • Consistently prioritising safety and wellbeing
  • Comfort supporting children aged 4–16 across the national curriculum
  • Knowledge of 11+ entrance exams
  • Knowledge of GCSE content
  • Commitment to building meaningful, long-term relationships
  • Providing consistency and stability
  • On-site work at the Cheltenham centre
  • Permanent, part-time contract
  • Minimum of 6 hours a week
  • Work at least 2 different weekdays
  • Availability for 3:30-4pm Tuesday
  • Availability for 3:30-4pm Wednesday
  • Availability for 3:30-4pm Thursday
  • Availability for 3:30-4pm Friday
  • Availability for Morning/afternoon Saturday
  • Not being a summer-only role
  • Support throughout the next academic year and beyond
  • Full employment history with all gaps clearly explained and evidenced
  • Satisfactory references
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Sharing commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Understanding that offers are strictly conditional upon satisfactory references and Enhanced DBS check
