Job Summary

Deliver tailored sessions using the Compass learning platform, facilitating growth through questioning, scaffolding, and stretching while maintaining a 1:6 student ratio. Build meaningful relationships with children aged 4–16 across the national curriculum, including 11+ entrance exams and GCSE preparation, by creating a safe environment where learners can take risks. Support members through their academic journey, celebrating milestones and ensuring consistent engagement in small groups. This permanent, part-time role requires a minimum of 6 hours per week across at least two weekdays, with shifts available Tuesday through Friday and Saturday mornings. Candidates must be 16 or older, hold UK work rights, and possess GCSE grades of 6 or above in Maths and English. Based at the Chester centre, this position offers a supportive team environment where tutors focus on nurturing student confidence rather than lesson planning.

Required Qualifications

  • Age 16 or over
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Grade 6 or above in Maths & English Language at GCSE level or equivalent
  • Acceptance of predicted GCSE grades if results received within the next 3 months
  • Commitment to building meaningful, long-term relationships
  • Confidence leading sessions with small groups (1:6)
  • Ability to inspire children to engage in their learning
  • Use of positive behaviour management strategies
  • Consistent prioritisation of children's safety and wellbeing
  • Comfort supporting children aged 4–16 across the national curriculum
  • Knowledge of 11+ entrance exams
  • Knowledge of GCSE content
  • Ability to work on-site at the Chester centre
  • Availability for permanent, part-time contract
  • Minimum of 6 hours a week
  • Work at least 2 different weekdays
  • Availability for 3:30-4pm Tuesday
  • Availability for 3:30-4pm Wednesday
  • Availability for 3:30-4pm Thursday
  • Availability for 3:30-4pm Friday
  • Availability for Morning/afternoon Saturday
  • Satisfactory references
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Full employment history with all gaps clearly explained and evidenced
