Job Summary

Deliver tailored lessons using the Compass learning platform, facilitating progress through questioning, scaffolding, and stretching for small groups of six. Build meaningful relationships with children aged 4–16, supporting them through the national curriculum, entrance exams, and GCSE preparation while prioritizing their safety and wellbeing. Maintain consistent 1:6 ratios to create a safe environment where learners can take risks and develop a lifelong love of learning. Work on-site at the Crayford centre in a permanent, part-time capacity with shifts including Tuesday through Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

Required Qualifications

  • Age 16 or over
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Grade 6 or above in Maths & English Language at GCSE level or equivalent
  • Acceptance of predicted GCSE grades if results received within the next 3 months
  • Confidence leading sessions with small groups (1:6)
  • Ability to inspire children to engage in their learning
  • Use of positive behaviour management strategies
  • Consistently prioritising safety and wellbeing
  • Comfort supporting children aged 4–16 across the national curriculum
  • Knowledge of 11+ entrance exams
  • Knowledge of GCSE content
  • Commitment to building meaningful, long-term relationships
  • Providing consistency and stability
  • On-site work at the Crayford centre
  • Permanent, part-time contract
  • Minimum of 6 hours a week
  • Work at least 2 different weekdays
  • Availability for 3:30-4pm Tuesday
  • Availability for 3:30-4pm Wednesday
  • Availability for 3:30-4pm Thursday
  • Availability for 3:30-4pm Friday
  • Availability for Morning/afternoon Saturday
  • Not being a summer-only role
  • Support for members throughout the next academic year and beyond
  • Full employment history with all gaps clearly explained and evidenced
  • Satisfactory references
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Exemption from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
  • Relevant disclosures in line with DBS and safer recruitment requirements
