Job Summary
Deliver tailored tutoring sessions using the Compass platform, facilitating learning through questioning, scaffolding, and stretching while maintaining a 1:6 ratio. Build meaningful relationships with children aged 4–16, supporting them through the national curriculum, 11+ entrance exams, and GCSE preparation. Act as a coach and mentor to inspire curiosity and ensure safety and wellbeing during small group interactions. This permanent, part-time on-site role at the Whiteley centre requires a minimum of 6 hours weekly across Tuesdays through Fridays or Saturday mornings. Candidates must be 16+, hold UK work rights, and possess GCSE Grade 6+ in Maths and English.
Required Qualifications
- Age 16 or over
- Right to work in the UK
- Grade 6 or above in Maths & English Language at GCSE level or equivalent
- Acceptance of predicted GCSE grades if results received within the next 3 months
- Confidence leading sessions with small groups (1:6)
- Ability to inspire children to engage in their learning
- Use of positive behaviour management strategies
- Consistently prioritising safety and wellbeing
- Comfort supporting children aged 4–16 across the national curriculum
- Knowledge of 11+ entrance exams
- Knowledge of GCSE content
- Commitment to building meaningful, long-term relationships
- Providing consistency and stability
- On-site work at the Whiteley centre
- Permanent, part-time contract
- Minimum of 6 hours a week
- Work at least 2 different weekdays
- Availability for Tuesday 3:30-4pm
- Availability for Wednesday 3:30-4pm
- Availability for Thursday 3:30-4pm
- Availability for Friday 3:30-4pm
- Availability for Morning/afternoon Saturday
- Not being a summer-only role
- Support for members throughout the next academic year and beyond
