Job Summary
Conduct individualized and small-group tutoring sessions for cadets at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy during evening hours. Explain mathematical concepts, formulas, and problem-solving techniques while assisting students with homework, quizzes, and examinations. Maintain accurate records of attendance and session topics, then meet weekly with faculty to coordinate activities and communicate student progress. Deliver services in person at the Center for Teaching and Learning in Waesche Hall across Fall, Spring, and Summer sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Mathematics or a closely related field
- Minimum one (1) year of tutoring or teaching experience in a higher education environment
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working collaboratively with faculty in higher education
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Strong ability to explain complex mathematical concepts to students with varying levels of proficiency
