Job Summary
Teach multiple sections of Middle School Math, including electives, and lead a grade-level Crew/advisory daily. Deliver culturally responsive, student-centered instruction that differentiates for IEPs, African-American, and ELL students while maintaining rigorous standards. Utilize assessments such as Altitude, ANET, and MAP to drive learning outcomes and foster growth mindsets. Build supportive classroom cultures that fully include African-American boys and students with trauma, and collaborate closely with families and colleagues. Administer all school policies and procedures, including attendance records and safety reporting.
Required Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S.
- Appropriate California Teaching Credential or commitment and ability to acquire one
- Valid Certificate of Clearance verifying professional fitness for all CA teachers of record
- Knowledge of California Common Core State Standards
- Knowledge of student-centered learning
- Knowledge of mastery-based learning
- Knowledge of curriculum planning
- Knowledge of data analysis
- 2+ years teaching urban youth
- Experience teaching in a progressive school model
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Ability to see and hear on a continuous basis
- Ability to speak frequently
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to stop, extend, kneel and reach
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to walk for long periods of time
- Ability to move quickly or run over smooth to uneven surfaces indoor/outdoor
- Ability to supervise students outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to move quickly to intervene in situations involving student safety
- Ability to perform repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding and whiteboard usage
- Ability to travel to sites for PD within and outside LCPS
- Ability to work in loud environments such as cafeterias, playgrounds, classrooms, and large professional settings
- Ability to adapt to indoor/outdoor environments for all weather conditions related to outdoor activities and/or travel to field trips and school-sponsored events
- Ability to work in air-conditioned and heated environments under fluorescent lighting
- Ability to work 1.0 FTE (full-time exempt)
- Ability to follow a 10-month (190 day) work year
- Ability to report in late July/early August 2026
- Ability to maintain common building hours
- Ability to work 8:00 - 4:00 pm on M, Tu, Th, Fri
- Ability to work 8:00-5:00 on Wednesdays
- Ability to attend occasional evening events during the year
- Ability to administer all policies and procedures in a professional and timely manner as mandated by LCPS, and state and federal agencies
- Ability to handle attendance records
- Ability to handle reporting of sexual/physical abuse
