Job Summary
Teach North Carolina Standard Course of Study/Common Core courses while developing instructional materials for students with diverse mental, physical, and emotional needs. Provide individual and group instruction to meet student needs, establish standards for effective participation, and evaluate academic and social growth through appropriate records. Communicate with parents via conferences to discuss progress, identify student needs, and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning problems. Create engaging learning environments using technology and functional displays, select instructional materials, and participate in faculty committees and student activities. Maintain professional competence through in-service education and district training.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university
- Must be fully licensed as a Mathematics Teacher (00200) or eligible for licensure for high school
- If hired for middle school must be licensed in 78200 or eligible for licensure
- Strong background in North Carolina Course of Study/Common Core
- Must possess the visual acuity to prepare data, work with record processes, and do extensive reading and research
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- If offered a position, the prospective employee must pass a required health exam, criminal records check, and drug test
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Experience with Smartboard and other forms of technology
