Job Summary

MATH TEACHER (DEAF HIGH SCHOOL) responsible for teaching sensory-impaired students in a state-mandated academic program using Florida standards. Duties include developing and implementing lesson plans, maintaining grade books and progress reports, analyzing and using student data, managing classroom behavior, and collaborating with families and staff. Requires knowledge of deaf/hard-of-hearing and/or blind/visually impaired education, differentiated instruction, curriculum development, and CPI/CPR training. Must obtain/maintain Florida math 6-12 (or Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing) teaching certification and attain advanced sign language proficiency within one year of hire; 10-month contract with salary range $53,950 - $57,550 plus benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in related field
  • Current state of Florida educator certification in Math 6-12 and Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing or ability to obtain within a reasonable period of time upon hire
  • Teachers may be hired with current state of Florida educator certification in Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing, with the understanding that certification in Math 6-12 must be earned within a specified period of time
  • If certification noted are not from Florida, upon appointment, shall obtain state of Florida certification(s) within a reasonable period of time
  • Sign Language Requirements: Applicants selected for hire will be required to attain an advanced proficiency in sign language within one year of hire
