Job Summary
Part-time tutors (approx. 10 to 25 hours per week) assist students across various subjects including math from Pre-Algebra to Calculus I, and C++ programming. Tutors are responsible for offering personalized support, enhancing student understanding of course material, engaging in critical thinking, and fostering academic skills to achieve educational goals. Candidates should possess a solid math background, a degree in a relevant field, and demonstrate effective teaching abilities, with training provided through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). Tutors are expected to maintain engagement with staff, complete records accurately, and participate in professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of math (math tutors)
- The ability to tutor introductory Statistics, Physics, and MS Office is a plus for math tutors
- Proficiency in C++ programming (computer tutors)
- Knowledge of HTML, basic network, microcomputer OS, data structure is a plus for computer tutors
- An Associate degree or above in the discipline or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
- A grade of B or above in each course the candidate intends to tutor
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- An interest in working with a diverse population of students
- Patience and a genuine desire to help others learn and succeed
