Job Summary
Part-time Math Lab Tutor provides one-on-one and small-group tutoring to a diverse population of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students in the Math Lab. The tutor identifies students’ mathematical skills needs; differentiates instructional strategies and materials; teaches specific math concepts; engages students with active learning; fosters autonomy; motivates students; and documents student progress in the Math Lab’s systems for the Manager and Learning Center. The role includes proctoring student placement testing, maintaining currency with technology and instructional resources, and participating in professional development, departmental meetings, and staff activities. The position requires at least a Bachelor's in Mathematics or Mathematics Education (Master's preferred) and 3-5 years of teaching experience, with strong communications skills and proficiency with Microsoft applications, Scantron, and related office equipment. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education (required)
- 3-5 years of teaching experience (required)
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft applications for communication, reporting, and data analysis (required)
- Ability to learn other software tools independently (required)
- Experience using Scantron and other office equipment (required)
- Ability to speak and write professionally to communicate data results to students, parents, faculty, and/or staff (required)
- Prepare reports for a variety of audiences (required)
