Job Summary
Math Instructional Coach at Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, MI, will lead classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers and leaders; conduct model lessons and co-teaching with classroom teachers; provide office hours for leaders and teachers; support unit/lesson planning with grade-level teams; lead lesson study cycles; analyze student work and formative assessment data to inform instructional decisions; cultivate model classrooms to replicate best practices for planning and instruction; provide recommendations to educators to improve equity of learning for diverse student populations including students with learning differences and English learners; create or customize professional development experiences; facilitate school-wide professional development sessions for leaders and teachers; bring deep math knowledge, problem-based learning approach, and proficiency with educational technology and data-informed practice.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of 6-8 math teaching experience
- Master’s or Advanced Degree in Education
- Experience leading sustained coaching engagements and professional development for educators in K-5 or 6-8
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology-based productivity tools
- Experience teaching or supporting Go! Math!
- Experience analyzing data and using it to inform practice
- Experience coaching and facilitating professional development sessions
- Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and priorities
- Experience collaborating with school leaders and teachers
- Passion for math and problem-based learning
- Master’s degree in Education or related field
