Job Summary
Materials Test Engineer responsibilities include performing mechanical materials tests per ASTM and NASA standards, designing test specimens and fixtures, operating electromechanical and servo-hydraulic test machines, developing test plans and schedules, analyzing test data, and generating material test data reports. The role involves testing materials such as composites, polymers, plastics, rubber, and concrete, with testing environments ranging from room temperature air to elevated temperatures and liquid nitrogen. The candidate will participate in customer meetings, and must have experience with Solid Edge CAD, and familiarity with MTS and Instron test systems. Requirements include a BS degree in Materials, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited) and 1-5 years of experience; travel (<10%) and ability to work in a lab setting are expected.
