Job Summary
Manage the materials team to oversee receipt, storage, and replenishment of materials for trailer and aftermarket production. Direct shipments of parts, assemblies, and dunnage to aftermarket, sister plants, and suppliers while coordinating spotter truck activities. Ensure compliance with plant safety protocols, conduct training on material handling equipment, and maintain accurate inventory through weekly audits and year-end counts. Develop proper material handling processes, support Lean and BIQ initiatives, and lead the material recycling process segregated by alloy. Supervise material handlers and support operations on NCM, PDR, and scrap processes. Perform 80% of duties in a manufacturing environment requiring PPE, with 20% office time.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or other Manufacturing discipline, preferred
- 1-3 years of progressive levels of responsibility within Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing
- 1-3 years of experience in a people-leadership role
- Working knowledge of material flow, logistics, warehousing, receiving and shipping systems and practices preferred
- Experience working in a heavy industrial environment using Lean Manufacturing concepts in daily continuous improvement activities preferred
- Experienced in multi-plant ERP environment required
- JDE experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication and people skills
- Strong experience utilizing computers and working with Microsoft products, including intermediate – advanced Excel skills
- Strong experience working collaboratively and cross-functionally in on-site and off-site teams
- Organizational, attention to detail and record keeping skills
- Problem solving skills
- Must wear plant defined PPE when in shop
- Must be aware of surroundings due to crane/hoist truck & forklift movements inside and out of the plant
