Materials Qualification Engineer

Job Summary
Design and execute comprehensive test plans to evaluate new materials’ mechanical, thermal, electrical and optical properties; perform root-cause analysis and material failure analysis if there is any. Prepare detailed qualification reports, test data and validation documentation to ensure materials meet internal specifications, regulatory requirements, and production standards. Collaborate cross-functionally with Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing, and R&D to support design-for-manufacturing goals. Engage with material suppliers to communicate technical requirements and performance expectations. On-site in Sugar Land, TX. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or higher in Materials Science, Optoelectronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field, experience with material testing methods, familiarity with lab instruments and data analysis, strong communication skills, and knowledge of ISO/ASTM standards are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Materials Science, Optoelectronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience or coursework involving material testing methods (tensile, thermal, aging, corrosion, microscopy, etc.).
- Comfortable working with lab instruments and data analysis tools.
- Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with ISO, ASTM, or industry-specific material standards is a plus.
