Job Summary
Supervise and coordinate daily material flow activities, overseeing receiving, inventory, picking, and shipping to ensure production needs are met. Implement lean management efforts to increase velocity and minimize inventory levels while creating action plans and critical logistics reports. Direct warehousing and distribution services by verifying shipments against bills of lading, determining optimal shipping methods, and managing container pack-out areas. Enforce compliance with federal, state, and local warehousing regulations, maintain safe work environments, and conduct physical inventory counts to reconcile with data systems. Manage logistics staffing by coaching employees, recruiting new talent, and scheduling shifts to meet operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement and distribution)
- Be a proactive change agent and possess leadership skills to build and maintain a team oriented environment while leveraging lean methodologies
- Uses data analysis and excellent processes to help predict problem areas and identify areas of opportunity
- Possess a strong customer service orientation and must provide dedicated support of internal customer requirements
- Superior analytical skills
- High level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, etc.), Oracle, OTM, Kodiak, or other warehouse and shipping management systems
- Strong written, oral communication, and presentation skills
- A minimum of 1-5 years of experience in the integrated functions of manufacturing
- Experience with rate-based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments
- Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes
- Experience with visual management systems
- Experience operating warehouse equipment and any necessary certifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and other inventory control/shipping software
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in business or engineering discipline preferred
- APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), or commitment to obtain within the first 18 months of employment
