Job Summary
Materials Manager who plans, coordinates, and controls all materials-related activities to support uninterrupted production in glass manufacturing. Responsible for inventory accuracy of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods; oversees warehousing, receiving, storage, and shipping coordination; drives inventory controls (cycle counting, physical inventories, variance analysis) and monitors metrics like inventory turns and obsolete material reduction. Leads procurement of raw materials, consumables, and packaging; builds supplier relationships and negotiates pricing, contracts, and delivery terms. Collaborates with Quality and Engineering to resolve supplier issues; coordinates inbound/outbound logistics; utilizes ERP/MRP systems for planning and inventory transactions; prepares reports on inventory valuation, material usage, supplier performance, and cost trends. Guides continuous improvement initiatives using lean practices; leads and develops materials and warehouse teams; ensures safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental standards; works cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Sales to meet operational goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, operations, engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in materials management or supply chain roles within a manufacturing environment (glass or heavy manufacturing preferred)
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, purchasing, and MRP/ERP systems
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
