Job Summary
Conduct laboratory support for Materials Engineering team members by performing materials characterization and failure analysis investigations through testing, sectioning, and sample preparation of heavy-duty powertrain components. Maintain laboratory equipment preventative maintenance programs and manage inventory, consumable purchases, and quality initiatives. Requires 3 years of relevant experience or an AA degree plus 1 year, familiarity with heavy-duty sectioning equipment, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. This role is onsite in Detroit, MI, with a starting salary of $65,000 – $83,000 USD.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of relevant experience
- AA degree
- 1 year of relevant experience
- Familiarity with heavy-duty powertrain components
- Familiarity with and be comfortable with heavy-duty sectioning equipment such as industrial band saws, enclosed chop saws, and other industrial equipment and environments
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow complex work plans
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- College level classes in Material Science and/or Metallurgy
- Familiarity with materials sample preparation techniques including sample preparation and metallography
- Familiarity with inventory management systems
- Familiarity with lean management principles
- Work in (or relocate to) Detroit, MI US
- Onsite
- Legally authorized to work permanently in the country the position is located in at the time of application
- Successfully complete a criminal background check
- Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
