Materials Engineer - Flight Vehicle Support

Job Summary
Prepare and test adhesive bond specimens per internal procedures and ASTM standards, while performing materials characterization and mechanical testing for flight hardware and thermal protection system development. Analyze experimental data to generate technical reports with recommendations, and maintain engineering documentation including specifications, test plans, and qualification reports. Support material failure investigations and collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams on material selection and production activities. This role focuses on solid rocket motors and hypersonic flight applications within a fast-moving defense systems environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
- Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
- Must be able to travel up to 30%
- Must be able to lift more than 50lbs
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State

Desired Qualifications
- 0–3 years of engineering experience (internships or undergraduate research considered)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in both laboratory and cross-functional engineering environments
