Job Summary
Research, test, and qualify materials to optimize safety, structural integrity, and longevity of Blue Bird's school buses and commercial vehicles; drive lightweighting, corrosion resistance, and sustainability for traditional and EV chassis and bodies; serve as SME for materials and lead introduction of advanced materials complying with FMVSS, REACH/RoHS; evaluate metals, alloys, polymers, composites, and coatings; perform mechanical/metallurgical/chemical testing; conduct root-cause analysis on field or production failures; collaborate with procurement, design, and manufacturing to establish material specifications and drive continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in materials engineering, product development, or failure analysis within an automotive, heavy truck, or aerospace manufacturing environment
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident; authorized to work in the United States
