Job Summary
Receive, store, maintain, and issue materials and supplies while entering transactions into computer systems to ensure accurate recordkeeping. Inspect incoming shipments for discrepancies, perform physical inventories and cycle counts, and process transformers for reuse, repair, or disposal. Operate manual and mechanized equipment to load, unload, and deliver materials to utility locations and job sites. Manage the tool room, maintain fuel dispensing and underground tank monitoring systems, and clean hazardous spills in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Requires a valid Missouri CDL Class A, one-year material handling experience, and ability to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- College level courses in a position relevant field preferred
- A minimum of one-year recent material handling experience
- The most relevant experience must include the hands-on utilization of a fully integrated materials management computer system
- Relevant work performed must include the use of manual and mechanized material handling equipment
- Relevant work performed must include physical inventory counts
- Relevant work performed must include shipping and receiving freight
- Relevant work performed must include pulling and filling orders
- Must have a valid Missouri CDL, Class A including air brakes
- The ability to obtain a Missouri Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) within six weeks of employment
- The ability to obtain a CDL, Class A including air brakes within six months of employment
- Ability to maintain proficiency in use of electronic inventory management systems via computers, tablets, touchscreens, and manual/mechanized materials management warehousing activities
- Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with various groups of people while providing excellent customer service
- Ability to operate manual and motorized material handling equipment
- Ability to make mature decisions and perform tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability to assume responsibilities for development of knowledge and skills to advance into progressively responsible positions
- Mechanically inclined and able to understand operating functions of materials stored and equipment operated
- Ability to enter, transcribe, record, store, and/or maintain alpha numeric information in written or electronic form
- Ability to demonstrate basic math skills, as well as the ability to transcribe alpha-numeric information
- Ability to successfully navigate various electronic systems including but not limited to an electronic inventory management system, Microsoft Office Suite, other applicable information technology applications, and self-service platforms
- Must model a constructive attitude and always act in the best interest of the utility, placing organizational goals ahead of individual concerns
- Must maintain adherence to all company policies
- Must have full body mobility
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to repetitively lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally move 80 pounds unassisted
- Must be able to safely perform physical tasks such as loading and moving pallets, drums, and other items pertinent to utility operations
- Must be able to work successfully with diverse groups of people
- Must be able to work Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Must be able to wear uniform clothing provided by City Utilities, including flame retardant/arc rated clothing
