Job Summary
Own end-to-end materials supply for externally sourced and internally manufactured parts supporting final assembly, overseeing tactical purchasing, supplier performance, and inventory health. Drive alignment of supply dates and quantities within the ERP to ensure system signals reflect reality, acting as the key escalation point for shortages, decommits, and supply risks. Manage relationships with 40-50 key suppliers and indirect procurement streams while expediting parts through vendors and internal inspection to protect the build plan. This role supports the planning team at Blatchford's Head Office in Basingstoke, contributing to the global manufacturer's advanced prosthetic and orthotic technology solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Operations Management, or related field
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems with proven ability to manage purchasing and inventory workflows
- Evidence of continuous professional development in supply chain or purchasing disciplines
- Proven experience managing purchasing and inventory in a manufacturing, engineering, or fast-moving operational environment
- Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, MRP/ERP planning, safety stock methodologies, and demand alignment
- Demonstrated experience managing supplier relationships, placing and expediting purchase orders, and controlling lead-time risk
- Demonstrated ability to manage inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and stock optimisation
- Experience with root-cause analysis relating to shortages, overstock, and supply disruptions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
- High level of organisation, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across operations, planning, finance, and suppliers
- Proactive approach with the ability to identify risks early and implement mitigation plans
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation ability
- Demonstrated accountability, resilience, and structured follow-through
