Job Summary
Material Prep Operator to support production by cutting and preparing raw plastic materials using saws, shears, and punch presses in a fast-paced plastics manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include operating saws and punch presses, inspecting materials and finished blanks for quality and dimensions, maintaining accurate records of usage and production quantities, assisting with material staging and changeovers, and performing routine maintenance. Requires experience in plastics manufacturing or high-mix, low-volume production, familiarity with saws/punch presses, knowledge of measurement tools (calipers, tape measures), ability to read work orders/drawings, strong attention to detail, safety-conscious with PPE, and ability to work independently or in a collaborative team. Salary is competitive and benefits are provided; 1st shift schedule is 5:30 am to 2 pm.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in a plastics manufacturing or high-mix, low-volume production environment
- Prior experience operating saws, punch presses, or similar material prep equipment
- Familiarity with machine setup, tooling changes, and basic troubleshooting
- Knowledge of material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack)
- Knowledge of using measurement tools such as calipers and tape measures
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, cut lists, and basic drawings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to safely handle and cut plastic materials of varying sizes and thicknesses
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Basic math skills and manual dexterity
