Job Summary
Supervise and develop the Materials team, including Lead Material Planners and Material Supervisors, while managing supplier relationships and performance to resolve discrepancies. Oversee material planning and procurement activities using MRP and RPS systems to ensure timely component availability and maintain optimal inventory levels. Coordinate production scheduling and logistics with manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to support just-in-time requirements, and manage inventory problem resolution including expedites and customs compliance. Report to the Materials Manager at our Chicago facility. This role supports engineering changes and program management to minimize obsolescence while driving continuous improvement in operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
- Minimum 5 years of materials management experience
- Experience preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of materials management processes and procedures
- Advanced computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and materials planning systems such as Tranks4M and sequencing software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to independently evaluate inventory levels and planning inputs
- Excellent communication and expediting skills
- Ability to effectively coordinate with suppliers, internal teams, and customers
- Normal amount of sitting and standing
- Average mobility to move around an office and plant environment
- Ability to conduct normal amount of work on a computer
- Valid driver's license
