Material Inspector (Roads & Bridges)

Job Summary
Supervise all on-site tests and sampling, witnessing laboratory and in situ tests by contractors or third parties while preparing samples for analysis. Coordinate with the Work Inspector to confirm testing approvals and discuss concerns, ensuring sampling remains quick and efficient to avoid delays. Perform regular checks of delivered materials for conformance with approved sources, enforcing specifications and contract drawings. Assist the Senior Work Inspector and Senior Materials Engineer in reviewing, approving, and accepting used materials within quality control and assurance frameworks. Requires a Technical Diploma or Degree with 5+ years experience (or 3 years for Civil Engineering graduates), full computer literacy, and strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Diploma or Degree in a related field
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in similar nature or Civil Engineering graduate with a minimum of three (3) years' experience on roads, bridges, concrete and utilities projects
- Ability to read working drawings, related specifications, inspection and test plans and method statements
- Capability to enforce such specifications and contract drawings
- Full computer literacy
- Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, etc.
- Access to any project specific engineering and construction relevant software
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with project team
