Job Summary
Pick up, transport, and delivery of materials required to produce ready-mix concrete and other materials. Perform daily Department of Transportation pre- and post-trip truck inspection including checking all fluids such as oil and antifreeze. Consult with the load master at the terminal for instructions. Proceed to the hatch stand, climb onto platform, release/open hatch, or climb ladder if no platform. Retrieve bill of lading from weight master. Transport materials to designated plants in a safe manner observing all laws and regulations. Thoroughly clean the exterior and interior of the tractor & bulk tanker/trailer per Ernst standards. Perform other duties as requested and/or assigned. Operate the truck safely at loading terminals, on roads during transit, and while unloading at plant locations. Be willing and able to work long hours up to the maximum hours allowed by DOT/state law, including weekends and holidays. Must maintain a collaborative, safety-driven approach and communicate effectively with supervisors and stakeholders. The role requires physical activity such as climbing in/out of the truck, lifting up to 80 pounds, and exposure to varied environmental conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid State-Issued Class A Commercial Driver License
- Pre-employment background check
- MVR overview
- Physical/DOT and drug/alcohol testing
- Proficient read, write, and speak English
- Ability to understand and read GPS from company issued tablet
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven safe driving record
- No unexplained gaps in employment
