MATERIAL HANDLING OPERATOR I

Job Summary
Operates and maintains material handling equipment at a coal-fired generating station, performing unloading and fueling of coal, monitoring plant systems, recording data, and assisting training. Performs visual inspections, lubrication, and preventive maintenance; keeps logs; communicates equipment conditions; adheres to OSHA and SECI safety rules and environmental requirements; participates in safety meetings and training; works with conveyors, crushers, feeders, dust suppression and other material handling systems; trained to operate Plant Block/FGD/EPF area equipment and to follow LOTO procedures. Requires High School Diploma or equivalent, 2–3 years of related power-plant material handling experience, completion of specified operator trainings, a valid driver's license, ability to lift 60 pounds, and ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts with overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of prior experience in coal fire power plant operations
- Three (3) years’ experience in operating material handling equipment
- Must complete Heavy Equipment and Equipment Operator training
- Must complete Plant Operator 1 training for Power Block or FGD and EPF plant site area systems
- Must be able to understand and interpret manuals related to operation/maintenance of equipment
- Must gain knowledge of EPA-related procedures and operations
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
- Ability to drive vehicles and mobile equipment
- Ability to work in rotating 12-hour shifts and overtime when required
