Job Summary
Receive and verify shipments against purchase orders and bills of lading, resolving discrepancies with supervisors and filing freight claims as needed. Load outbound trucks, confirm units with carriers, and track nightly pick-ups to prevent missed deliveries. Move materials throughout the plant, stage inventory for production, and maintain accurate records for traceability and inventory control. Operate forklifts, hoists, scales, and pallet wrappers while adhering to safety protocols and 5S standards. Monitor messaging systems to support continuous production flow and manage scrap, chemicals, and obsolete inventory disposal.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of parts and materials used in manufacturing operations
- Some blueprint reading
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work cooperatively with other employees
- Ability to communicate with customers, vendors and freight lines
- Ability to recognize parts and their corresponding part numbers
- Skill in operating a forklift in a safe and approved manner
- Skill in operating the sheet steel hoist in a safe and approved manner
- Skill in operating the coil steel hoist in a safe and approved manner
- Skill in operating various scales in a safe and approved manner
- Skill in operating automatic pallet wrapper in a safe and approved manner
- Skill in operating dock plates, lights, overhead and trailer doors
- Skill in operating self-dumping hoppers in a safe and approved manner
- Skill in material handling involving hazardous materials
- 8-hour DOT HazMat
- Hazard Communication
- Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure Plans
- Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans
- 10-hour Osha
- Forklift
- Must be available to work overtime, weekends and flex shifts as required to meet the company's business demands
