Job Summary
Pull, bundle, stage, organize, and load building material orders accurately and safely, handling steel, lumber, mesh, and jobsite supplies. Use order information and supervisor direction to prepare correct materials, keeping multiple orders separated and easy for drivers or customers to identify. Operate forklifts, carts, banding tools, and saws only when trained and authorized while maintaining clean, safe yard and warehouse areas. Report damaged or low-stock material promptly and communicate clearly with drivers, coworkers, and management. Stay productive by assisting with cleanup, inventory movement, and team support during inactive periods. This role supports a collaborative work environment with opportunities for career growth and development in a construction supply yard.
Required Qualifications
- Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, and willingness to do physical work.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move heavy or awkward materials, up to 80-100 lbs as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, and changing conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, and move throughout the workday.
- Ability to follow verbal, written, and digital work instructions.
- Good communication, dependability, punctuality, and teamwork.
- Ability to work safely around forklifts, trucks, customers, contractors, and moving materials.
- Willingness to be trained and certified on forklift operation if needed.
- Willingness to work overtime, early mornings, or occasional scheduled Saturdays when business needs require.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in a yard, warehouse, building materials, lumber, construction supply, or similar environment.
- Forklift experience.
- Experience pulling orders, staging materials, loading trucks, or assisting customers.
- Basic knowledge of construction materials or willingness to learn.
