Job Summary
Material Handler unloads donations from containers and moves goods to production areas. Sort donations into appropriate bins for further processing; maintain donor tallies; operate cardboard compactors and identify problems; ensure smooth flow of goods to the production floor; maintain a clean work environment; practice safe work habits and report hazards; may perform forklift duties if certified to Seattle Goodwill standards; minors are not allowed to operate heavy machinery; requires high school graduation or equivalency preferred but not required; 18+; ability to lift 30-40 pounds; strong communication skills; nonprofit environment with duties in outdoor/warehouse setting.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred, but not required
- Applicants must be 18 years or older
- No experience required (entry-level)
- Ability to lift 30-40 pounds; physical ability to stand, bend, kneel, reach, climb ladders
- Forklift certification optional if applicable
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including with those with limited English skills
