Material Handler Night Shift

Job Summary
Night-shift Material Handler responsible for receiving incoming materials from customers or delivery drivers and preparing materials for paint or other operations (including grinding, hand sanding, chemical wash and rinse, hanging, and other preparation). Moves materials to ovens/paint areas, packages and loads finished product, and maintains organized storage to support production flow. Collaborates with painters and blasters to ensure materials are ready when needed; adheres to safety rules and participates in toolbox meetings. Performs duties as directed by Foreman or Lead. Requires High School degree or equivalent and at least six months of steel-manufacturing or warehouse experience; proficient in reading/writing and basic arithmetic; capable of operating boom lifts, forklifts, skid steers, and manual carts; knowledgeable in paint systems, inventory storage, and shipping/receiving practices. Physical demands include lifting up to 70 pounds, standing/walking for up to 8–12 hours, and occasional climbing, reaching, and PPE use.
Required Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent
- Minimum of six months of experience in a steel manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Ability to read, write, and perform higher arithmetic computations
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
- Ability to use independent judgment in analyzing work requirements
- Ability to work under periodic supervision
- Ability to organize material and follow inventory procedures
- Skill in using complex measuring equipment
- Knowledge of paint systems and inventory storage locations and methods
- Knowledge of shop orders, shipping and receiving practices, and material packaging procedures
- Experience operating boom lifts, forklifts, skid steers, and manual carts
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 70 pounds occasionally
