Job Summary
Operate material handlers to load and unload cargo from vessels, trucks, and rail cars while assisting with inventory tracking and reporting discrepancies. Maintain terminal equipment including conveyors, door guns, and barge loaders; perform routine checks and report malfunctions. Secure cargo properly, manage barge cover access doors, and communicate with barge drafters or crane operators. Follow safety protocols, maintain clean work areas, and perform general labor tasks such as cleaning pits and decks. Work in varying weather conditions while lifting loads up to 50lbs unassisted and climbing ladders over 20 feet.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a warehouse, dock, or terminal environment
- Certification
- Ability to lift loads up to 50lbs unassisted and occasionally up to 75lbs
- Climbing of ladders over 20' of vertical height while using fall protection
- Familiarity with safety protocols and ability to follow instructions
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in crane operations
- Physical fitness to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and climbing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment in varying weather conditions
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety vests, hard hats, gloves, and steel-toed boots
- Must be available for shift work, including weekends or holidays

- Proven experience operating material handlers, preferably in a river terminal or maritime environment
