Job Summary
Material Handler II at STERIS is responsible for the safe movement of Customer Products, transferring products from unprocessed storage to processing area, loading/unloading processed products, placing/retrieving monitoring devices, and staging products for pre-shipping. The role involves reviewing customer-provided instructions, ensuring accurate processing, assisting in cross-training with the Warehouse Assistant, and potentially training other Material Handlers. It is a highly physical role requiring strength and endurance; duties include monitoring equipment, performing minor repairs, maintaining a clean work area, supporting GMP/Lean directives, and participating in Operator training programs to develop skills. The position emphasizes teamwork, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to lift up to 50 lb. Preferred forklift operation and four years of warehousing experience in an FDA/ISO/GMP environment are noted.
Required Qualifications
- High school Diploma or GED
- Subject to NRC required background check
- Must be clean shaven to wear proper PPE
- Ability to navigate through defined computer screens
- Cross train with the Warehouse Assistant position
- Required to participate in the Operator training program
- Above average organizing and analyzing skill and Level 2 math skill (four basic arithmetic functions in all units of measurement, decimals ratios, rates, percentages)
- Ability to lift up to 50lb regularly
- Ability to meet physical requirements of position, including physical capacity evaluation testing and annual physical
