Job Summary
Material Handler I is responsible for the safe, efficient handling of materials in the warehouse and/or shipping dock environment, including receiving, storing, cycle counting, and distributing materials, tools, equipment, and products; ensures correct Oracle transactions for goods receipts and item issuances; engages in packaging, loading, unloading, and transporting materials; operates forklifts and pallet jacks; adheres to safety protocols, EH&S policies, and 5S practices; maintains inventory accuracy and prepares shipments; roles require forklift operation experience, adherence to Hazmat handling requirements, and ability to obtain Hazmat certifications; flexible to work early morning or late-night shifts; reports to Lead Buyer; no travel; salary range $21.38-$29.38 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year of sit-down forklift experience within the past 4 years
- 6+ months of warehouse or material handling experience
- Experience with industrial equipment operation
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Basic mathematical and organizational skills
- Experience with computer software; Microsoft Office knowledge a plus
- Ability to use warehouse management software and inventory systems
- Ability to obtain Hazmat Ground Shipper (DOT) certification within 2 months and maintain certification
- Ability to obtain Hazmat Air Shipper (IATA) certification within required timeframe
- Ability to maintain Industrial Equipment Operator certification for pallets and forklift
- Demonstrate organizational capabilities; detail oriented, flexible, problem solver and ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Willingness to work early morning or late-night shifts
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with shipping/receiving documents
- Experience with RF scanners
- Able to function as a courier
- Able to use hand tools such as nail guns and air hoses
- Labels and transfers chemicals; checks Safety Data Sheets and updates inventory lists
- Performs daily/weekly cycle inventory counts and investigates inventory variances
- Performs Oracle transactions for goods receipts and items issuances
- Maintains effective communications within and outside department
- Supports 5S program and warehouse housekeeping
- Follows EH&S policies and federal/local regulations
