Job Summary
Material Handler I under close supervision performs physical and administrative material handling tasks including shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, returns, and storage. Responsibilities include unloading/loading shipments, directing movement to storage/work areas, recording shipments in the Warehouse Management System, preparing packing slips, shipping labels, and bills of lading, keeping work areas clean and organized, replenishing stock, operating a forklift, and performing driving duties as needed. Must be able to lift up to 150 pounds with assistance, work in a fast-paced environment, and comprehend written and diagram-based instructions. Basic math and computer skills required. Education typically a high school diploma or GED with 0-2 years related experience; forklift certification and hazardous material shipping certification preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 0-2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination
- Certified to operate a forklift
- Valid driver’s license
- Certified to handle hazardous material shipments
