Job Summary
Unload donations from containers, remove and sort salvage material and garbage from salable goods, and sort donations into appropriate bins for further processing. Provide a smooth flow of goods to the production floor while using cardboard compactors and identifying problems. Maintain donor tallies and a clean work environment, demonstrating safe work practices by reporting potential hazards or accidents. Perform other duties as assigned, including forklift operation when certified to Seattle Goodwill standards. This role supports a nonprofit organization that helps people get jobs across Northwest Washington through job training and placement.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalency
- Seattle Goodwill Forklift certification (if applicable)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30-40 pounds
- Developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers)
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to frequently bend, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting
- Ability to push
- Ability to climb ladders
- Ability to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain)
- Ability to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills
- Ability to maintain reliable attendance
- Ability to organize, sort, categorize, count, add, subtract
- Ability to solve problems
- Ability to communicate with the public
- Verbal and written communication skills
