Job Summary
Material Handler / Forklift Operator needed to join BlueLinx distribution center. Responsibilities include operating forklift in safety-guided manner to load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars, perform piece pick and bulk storage, prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping, conduct daily equipment inspections, maintain clean work area, and assist with periodic inventory counts. Requires ability to read and comprehend sales orders and purchase orders, work with safety guidelines, lift up to 75 lbs, and work independently under pressure. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with match, tuition reimbursement, PTO, holidays, and more. Monday–Friday schedule at fixed wage of $20.50/hour; prior forklift/warehouse experience preferred. The role sits in Richmond, VA, and is in-person at the distribution center.
Required Qualifications
- One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
- Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Ability to work independently at times under pressure
- Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
- Safe work record and stable work history
