Job Summary
Load, unload, process, and store hazardous and nonhazardous waste materials at a permitted facility, prioritizing safety by adhering to EPA, DOT, OSHA, and local regulations. Operate a fork truck, Bobcat, and hydraulic baler while directing liquid waste through pumps and performing chemical compatibility checks. Utilize barcode systems to document inventory, review laboratory data for proper disposal, and match inbound materials using DOT knowledge. Perform spill cleanup, maintain operating areas, and utilize appropriate PPE including respirators. Work Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday from 6am to 6:30pm. Requires high-school diploma and one year of related experience; 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High-school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of related experience
- Must be available for Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday 6am - 6:30pm
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to operate a fork truck and Bobcat with attachments
- Must be able to direct liquid waste through a system of pumps to tanks for storage
- Must be able to perform basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed
- Must be able to perform chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues
- Must be able to utilize barcode system equipment to document certain inventory activities
- Must be able to review laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials
- Must have knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA and permit regulations
- Must be able to utilize Arcwood coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers
- Must be able to utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection and a respirator
