Job Summary
Load, unload, and process hazardous and nonhazardous waste materials at a permitted facility while adhering to safety policies and DOT regulations. Operate a fork truck, Bobcat, and hydraulic baler; direct liquid waste through pumps; and perform chemical compatibility checks and spill cleanup. Utilize barcode systems and laboratory data to document inventory and determine proper disposal, ensuring all operations comply with EPA, OSHA, and permit requirements. Maintain clean operating areas and use appropriate PPE. Requires a high-school diploma, one year of related experience, and a 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate. Starting base salary is $20/hour with bonus incentives.
Required Qualifications
- High-school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of related experience
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to operate a fork truck and Bobcat with attachments
- Must be able to direct liquid waste through a system of pumps to tanks for storage
- Must be able to perform basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed
- Must be able to perform chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues
- Must be able to utilize barcode system equipment to document certain inventory activities
- Must be able to review laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials
- Must have knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA and permit regulations
- Must be able to utilize Arcwood coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers
- Must be able to utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection and a respirator
- Must be able to operate a hydraulic baler for cardboard and other materials
- Must be able to maintain operating areas, walls, pipes, and floors in a clean and safe condition
- Must be able to utilize knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA and permit regulations
- Must be able to utilize proper equipment to remove samples of materials for analysis and compatibility checks
- Must be able to prioritize health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices
- Must be able to load, unload and process solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local rules and regulations
- Must be able to match and label inbound materials for storage and shipping of containers to other sites using Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge
- Must be able to take on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
- Must be able to load, unload, processing and storing hazardous and nonhazardous waste materials at a permitted waste treatment facility with supervision
