Job Summary
Operate a baler safely to bale salvageable merchandise, identifying items that can be baled together versus those requiring separate processing. Process donations and saleable goods efficiently to maintain production equivalent to 8-10 bales per 8-hour shift, averaging over 1 bale per hour. Assist in the efficient movement of goods between storage, production, and trucks, while maintaining the dock area and assigned vehicle in a neat, clean, and organized condition. Ensure loading and unloading utilize sound safety practices, reporting hazards and incidents to the immediate supervisor. Maintain a positive, friendly attitude and comply with all organizational policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments
- Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude
- A neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Skill of operation monitoring, watching indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
- Ability to work under general supervision
- Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects as required by job
- Able to sit, stand, bend and reach
- Able to lift, push, pull up to sixty (60) pounds with no support regularly
- Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer), and adequate distance to guide the parking of vehicles
