Job Summary
Move steel materials between storage, production areas, loading docks, and delivery vehicles using hand, forklift, overhead crane, or other equipment. Safely attach slings, hooks, or devices to lift loads and guide them, while climbing onto vehicles to tie down and release material. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds over distances of up to 25 feet to heights of 5 feet, walking up to 5 miles daily. Apply proper bundling techniques and configure loads based on planned routes to maximize trailer capacity without compromising safety. Maintain and operate assigned tools including pallet trucks, banding machines, and forklifts, while reporting any equipment safety issues immediately. Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including precipitation and extreme temperatures, maintaining spatial awareness around moving objects and personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to correctly read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
- Ability to safely meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company.
- Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision; work alone and in a team environment.
- Ability to develop a good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures.
- Ability to maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations.
- Demonstrate basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
