Job Summary
Move steel materials to and from storage, production areas, loading docks, and delivery vehicles using hand, forklift, overhead crane, or other equipment. Safely attach slings, hooks, or devices to lift loads, climb onto vehicles to tie down and release material, and apply proper bundling techniques. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds over distances up to 25 feet to heights of 5 feet, walk up to 5 miles daily, and climb stairs or ladders while wearing required personal protective equipment. Maintain and safely operate assigned tools including tape measures, calipers, pallet trucks, banding machines, forklifts, and overhead cranes. Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions including precipitation, cold, heat, high wind, and turbulence. Judge distances to maintain awareness of ongoing work activities of other people and equipment in the area.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to correctly read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs
- Ability to safely meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company
- Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision
- Ability to develop a good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures
- Ability to maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations
- Demonstrate basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Close vision

- Must maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around work environment with many moving objects
- Must judge near and far distance to maintain awareness of ongoing work activities of other people and equipment in the area
- Must attend all required company meetings
