Material Engineer (Roads / Utilities)

Job Summary
Oversee and manage materials for roads, utilities, and infrastructure works, ensuring compliance with project specifications and approved standards. Review and approve material submittals, technical data sheets, and proposals while monitoring site testing and inspection of aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and earthworks. Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and laboratories regarding approvals and test results, conducting site inspections to verify delivered material quality. Identify non-conforming materials and coordinate corrective actions, ensuring proper storage and handling on site. Provide technical advice on material selection and suitability for road and utility construction. This role is based in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, requiring 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Materials Engineering.
Required Qualifications
- 8 years work experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline
- 8+ years of relevant experience in materials engineering
- Experience on roads, infrastructure, utilities, or major civil construction projects
- Strong experience with road construction materials, pavement works, earthworks, and underground utilities
- Experience in material testing, laboratory testing, field testing, and quality control
- Knowledge of relevant ASTM, AASHTO, BS, EN, and UAE specifications and standards
- Experience reviewing and approving material submittals and material sources
- Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures and material inspection processes
- Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working with consultants/PMCs and contractors on large-scale infrastructure projects
- UAE or GCC infrastructure project experience
