Material Distribution Specialist

Job Summary

Plan and stage inventory against pick lists, unpacking materials and moving them to appropriate locations for processing. Manage inventory control by conducting accurate counts, labeling, storing, and distributing parts while maintaining Kanban bins and stockroom organization. Resolve material shortages, perform timely data entry to allocate inventory, and complete all documentation for inventory movement. Operate a forklift to offload containers and move supplies, adhering to 5S principles and safety requirements. Monitor multiple daily and weekly job assignments to ensure continuous material flow to manufacturing.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED/equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in material distribution, inventory, supply chain, or manufacturing
  • Knowledge/Experience in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools
  • Experience with MRP systems and processing inventory transactions
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret inventory data and reports
  • Strong math skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per shift
  • Ability to handle parts and tools with precision
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, lifting, gripping, and grasping with hands
  • Ability to work in environments with noise, chemicals, dust, sharp objects, moving/rotating mechanical parts, and temperature extremes
  • Respirator, fall protection, welding hood, etc. (PPE) as required by job duty and/or work area
  • Ability to handle parts and tools with precision
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, lifting, gripping, and grasping with hands
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of additional material distribution or inventory experience
  • Forklift experience, forklift certification
  • Demonstrated computer experience in Microsoft Office applications and Material Resource Planning / Enterprise Resource Planning type systems
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Professional 'can do' attitude
  • Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and prioritizing multiple tasks along with meeting deadlines
  • Consistently demonstrate independent judgment and initiative
  • Driven self-started dedicated to continuous process improvement
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, dependable and willing to accept a wide variety of assignments
  • Comfortable operating a forklift for moving inventory
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
