Job Summary
Appraise material damage claims and total losses, negotiate settlements, and dispose of salvage while inspecting vehicles at accident sites within the Northern Illinois and Wisconsin territory. Photograph damaged areas, write estimates, determine rental needs, and control costs per company guidelines. Distinguish damage causes for policy coverage, issue settlement checks, and maintain records. Respond to policyholder complaints, establish rapport with agents and adjusters, and evaluate antique and classic cars for coverage value upon request. Serve on the Catastrophe Team, which may involve short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two weeks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, or GED
- Five years experience in body shop or insurance claims adjusting, including estimate writing experience
- Incumbent must live in territory assigned unless a change is approved by the company
- Appropriate license as required by state
- Valid driver's license and good driving record
- Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment
- Climbing/accessing heights
- Driving
- Lifting/Moving 0-20 lbs
- Lifting/Moving 20-50 lbs
- Manual Keying/Data Entry/inputting information/computer use
- Pushing/Pulling/moving objects, equipment with wheels
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with The ERIE preferred
- Completion of General Insurance program preferred
